Ba Gua  Single  Palm  Change  Instructor  Training 2009

with Bruce Frantzis

For the first and quite possibly only time, Bruce Frantzis will offer an Instructor training in the Pre Birth method of Ba Gua.

This programme will be three weeks of intensive training in the Circle Walking methods and the Single Palm Change (July 5-25 2009). It is here that Bruce will go deeper into this material than ever before.

In a seminar or retreat Bruce normally teaches what is relevant to those present, within the constraints of the timeframe. In an Instructor training Bruce will go into all the relevant material, as deeply as possible, whilst keeping the teaching whole and complete so as to ensure teachings are passed down as they have been for millennia.

This is indeed a rare opportunity to train in the Pre Birth practices of Ba Gua with a genuine lineage master. These teachings are extremely hard to find - even within China - and training will allow the practitioner to learn sophisticated and effective techniques that have been practised by Taoists for thousands of years to create positive and lasting change to your being.

Rough Guide to this Training

Bruce normally teaches four hours each day – presenting Forms, ‘mechanics’, internal work and ‘energetics’ (chi work). In addition senior instructors will offer two hours of preparation work, personal adjustments, clarifications and training programs.

Apart from these six hours of formal teachings there will be early morning practice, group sessions, solo practice and a lot of partner exercises where everybody helps each other.

This usually amounts to 10-14 hours a day depending on the commitment and training level of the individual. Here there will be a melting pot of people who have trained many years in the internal martial arts with Bruce Frantzis, including his best Ba Gua practitioners and teachers. It is therefore an unprecedented and unique opportunity to learn about Ba Gua in-depth.

Possible Tracks

Normally there are three tracks offered the first time Bruce teaches an Instructor Training, including:

  1. Participation only; here you can choose how much you do. You can just take the course with Bruce (4 hours per day), take the extra tuition with the seniors as well (6 hours per day) or do all the practice sessions and group work on top. It is up to the individual as, at the end, you will not be tested - you will be learning for yourself, not for teaching.
  2. Level I; here you need to do the whole programme. It is obligatory for becoming an instructor. There are no prerequisites, but prior knowledge of the material is highly recommended.
  3. Level II; if you have the prerequisites you will be tested at the beginning by Bruce and his senior instructors – if you pass you can take the Level II track where the most advanced material will be taught.

All those who complete the course and pass the final test at the end of the training will receive certification to teach whichever level they have passed.
